La Cañada United Methodist Church’s Music Mensa Concert Series continues this month with the return of singer-songwriter-storyteller Lee Domann on Jan. 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the church, 104 Berkshire Place.

Domann, who is also an ordained United Methodist minister, spends his life traveling from concert to concert, church to church.

“Lee has sincere compassion,” says one admirer. “He is blessed with the abilities to write and play ... and he is blessed with a gift to touch people with his music. Lee is a healing force we need today to bring divergent people together. He is the definition of a modern day troubadour.”

Domann’s music has been recorded by a variety of artists, including Kathy Mattea, Mark Lowry, Jake Hess, the Gold City Quartet, Karen Peck, the Bishops and Riders In The Sky.

His songs have appeared on the charts of Billboard. His performances reflect varied roots: the open skies and often lonely spaces of his home state, Kansas; his journey of the spirit leading to Nashville, Tennessee and his “southern by adoption” status; as well as the musical roots of the Celtic, country folk and gospel traditions.

“Lee has been my friend for 20 years,” said international recording artist Kathy Mattea. “He penned my first two singles. Like me, he has eclectic tastes and a restless nature -- searching for the next inspiration. For Lee, music is about the truth at the core of a song or in the emotional connection with his audience. He writes from the soul, and you hear it in his songs.”

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children. For tickets and information, call 790-3650. Lee Domann20060105isjdo8nc(LA)
