Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s deputies early Saturday morning arrested four juveniles suspected of causing $20,000 to $30,000 damage duce to vandalism.

At 3:58 a.m. Jan. 1 residents of La Cañada reported three juveniles, all 15 years old, two of La Cañada Flintridge and one of Sunland, vandalizing neighborhood property on Vineta Avenue.

Two C.V. Sheriff’s Station deputies responded and, based on descriptions provided of the suspects and their vehicle, conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Houseman Street and Hampton Road.

“They were leaving the location as the deputies pulled up with the description of the juveniles at hand and a description of the vehicle. [Deputies] made a traffic stop,” said C.V Sheriff’s Station Detective Brian Tibbett.

Another 15-year-old La Cañada boy was arrested in suspicion of being part of the group of vandals.

All four suspects are being charged with felony vandalism because damages totaled more than $1,000.

“I look at vandalism as a serious crime. According to the statements received, boredom and the adrenaline rush seemed to be the main motives,” Tibbett said.

The juveniles were taken into custody and were then released to their parents.

C.V. Sheriff’s Station officials claim they have linked the juvenile suspects to numerous vandalisms in the area.

“Every day that goes by more and more information comes in,” Tibbett said. “There have been about 20-plus victims that have been identified, totaling in the neighborhood of maybe twenty-to-thirty thousand dollars.”

The suspects will be arraigned in March at the Pasadena court house.

“They’ve all been cited into court and it will be up to the judge to decide what occurs. The act of vandalism is a very serious crime and anyone found doing so will be dealt with directly,” Tibbett said.

“If anybody feels they were a victim of vandalism please contact the Sheriff’s Department to put out a report,” Tibbett added.
