LC Girls’ Varsity Basketball Dispatches South Pasadena

The Spartans upped their overall mark to 19-5 and their league record to 8-1. They will finish their regular league schedule today (Thursday) at home against Temple City at 5:30 p.m.

La Cañada led 18-8 at the end of the first quarter, 49-20 at the half and 75-38 after three quarters. The Spartans only scored two points in the fourth quarter, but it didn’t matter by that time.

Four Spartans scored in double figures. Mary Kate Hurlbutt led the offense with 19 points, including five 3-point baskets. Emily Ballard was next with 13 points, Raeanne Butts contributed 11 points and Emmilee Ringelberg finished with 10 points.

Other scorers were Monica An with nine points, including one 3-pointer, Jessica Lew with two 3-pointers, Caitlin Rohan with five points and Stephanie Anderson and Kristine Futalan with two points each.

Ballard topped the team with 11 rebounds and also had four steals, three assists and one blocked shot. Anderson added six rebounds, Ringelberg chipped in five rebounds and one blocked shot and Hurlbutt pulled down four rebounds and had six steals and five assists.

Lauren Tsou came through with three rebounds, two steals and one assist. Rohan supplied two rebounds, four assists and one steal. Butts had two rebounds, one assist and one steal. Sierra Prescott delivered two rebounds and one assist.

An followed with one rebound, eight assists and two steals. Lew had one rebound, one assist and one steal. Futalan and Dina Kim had one rebound and one steal apiece.
