Temple City Edges La Cañada Boys’ Junior Varsity Tennis

Although host Temple City and the La Cañada boys’ junior varsity tennis team split their sets in their Rio Hondo League match on April 12, the Rams were awarded the victory by having won more games, 89-87.
The Spartans traveled to Monrovia for a league match on Tuesday, but results were not available at press time.
La Cañada will visit Arcadia next Monday and will host Temple City next Tuesday and South Pasadena next Thursday at the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club in 3:15 p.m. league matches.
In singles, John Lee won two sets, 6-2 and 7-6, but lost a third, 6-4. Arman Khachatryan also won two sets, 6-1 and 6-2, and lost a third set, 7-6. Mark Thomson lost all three sets, 6-1, 7-5 and 6-3.
In doubles, the team of Roy Kwon and Jad Hage won two sets, 7-5 and 6-4, and lost a set, 6-3. The team of James Yoo and Chris Suk lost two sets, 6-2 and 6-2. The team of Yoo and Ashot Oganesyan won a set, 7-5.
The team of John Kim and Joe Suh won two sets, 7-6 and 6-2, but lost a third set, 6-3.
In an earlier league match on March 29, the Spartans bashed host South Pasadena, 14-4.
In singles play, Khachatryan won all three sets, 6-0, 6-3 and 6-2, as did Thompson, 6-3, 6-0 and 6-2. Oganesyan won two sets, 7-5 and 6-4, and lost a set, 7-6. lost a set.
In doubles, the team of John Kim and Suh won a set, 7-6, and lost two sets, 7-5 and 6-1. The team of Kwon and Hage won all three sets, 6-1, 6-4 and 6-0. The team of Ron Ueda and Suk won a set, 6-4. The team of Ueda and Yoo won a set, 6-4, and the team of Yoo and Suk lost a set, 6-2.
