Hats off to the Dodgers who put together a great game on the field and at the plate. Michael Knopf pitched a brilliant game. (Coach Markowitz)

The story of the night may well have been the play of Michael Knopf. Buoyed by solid defensive play, Knopf went the full six innings, pitching a no-hitter and allowing only one unearned run and striking out 13 Angels in the process. The Angels’ defense was typically solid, playing six innings of error free-ball. Keith Enterante in particular made a spectacular shoe string grab of a line drive off the grass to nail one Dodger runner. Dodger catcher Jamie Dick was solid behehind the plate. The team came away with their fifth win of the season. (Coach Knopf)

Cardinals (Badaruddin) -12 Pirates (Eggertsen) - 4

Matthew had a marvelous game. He struggled at the plate early, but once he faced live pitching he bore down. Daivon also delivered a home run and three players were perfect at the plate: Rijul (2-for-2), Connor (3-for-3 with a double), and Ben (3-for-3) running his fastest trying to leg out a ground ball (he’s getting faster!). Alex was the first player to face live pitching, he was fearless.

On the defensive side, Ryan took the mound for our team, and he was bold and confident, Connor also pitched like a seasoned veteran. Of course, that was made possible by brave performances at catcher, first by Jonathan and then by Sean. Earlier in the game, Bryce looked good as he gathered up a ground ball and patiently made his throw to first for the putout. And Daivon wowed the crowd with an unassisted double play when he caught a fly ball and doubled up the runner at first. (Coach Badaruddin)

SENIOR DIVISION

Patriot Babes (Eaton) - 6 Cherry Bombs (Cornwall) - 4

Both teams left it all on the field in a fun and well played game. The Cherry Bombs can only think what might have been as they could not get their runners home.

But give credit to the clutch pitching of Brette O’Brien and solid fielding by the Patriot Babes. The Cherry Bombs had moments defensively highlighted by an unassisted double play by Zoe Demos at shortstop and a major-league-catch in right field by Katherine Propper who snagged a smash rip by Charlotte Kay that probably would have gone to the right field fence.

Campbell Owen played well behind the plate with a pick-off throw to second and hustle play to tag out a runner trying to steal.

Antonopolis and Lauren Christopher kept up their strong batting with a couple of big hits each. Megan Cornwall pitched and only gave up two walks, and showed great courage staying in there to pitch to the last couple of batters after taking a line drive off her body.
