New PETastic! Community Event

The Roger Barkley Community Center is very excited to introduce a new community event, PETastic!, a sensational community event celebrating four-legged family members. This new event is being hosted by the Roger Barkley Community Center and promoted by Keller Williams of Glendale, The Alan Pezeshkian Team at Countrywide Home Loans and Andersen’s Pet Shop of Montrose. It promises to be fun for the whole family and the community.

PETastic! will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 17, on the lower Foothill Intermediate School field, next to the Roger Barkley Community Center, located at 4469 Chevy Chase Drive in La Cañada Flintridge. There will be a small entrance fee to the event of $10 for those 12 years of age and older and $5 for 11 and under.

According to the American Association for Pet Owners, in 2005, 63% of the US population owned at least one pet and 45% owned two or more pets. Truly beloved members of our families, they travel on our vacations, visit schools for show-and-tell, sit in frames on our desks and refrigerators and in some locations have their own parks so they can socialize with friends.

PETastic! is a fundraiser for the Roger Barkley Community Center and the Glendale Humane Society. The event is showcasing more than 20 local pet-oriented vendors; boarders, groomers, trainers and pet supply stores. There will also be dog training demonstrations, live music from by the International Superstars of Rock, food vendors, pet adoption registry, rock wall, face painting, bounce house for the kids and much more. Additionally, the La Cañada Pet Clinic is going to provide free booster shots for the first 50 dogs and cats to view their booth. Plus the Glendale Humane Society will be providing on-site pet micro-chipping for the low price of $25.

As a kick-off to PETastic! community members are encouraged to register their dogs for a one-of-a-kind colossal canine course; a unique adventure obstacle course for dogs of all sizes. The course opens at 9 a.m. and registration is required. You can pre-register a dog for $25. The cost on event day is $30 at 8 a.m. Registration provides entry for one dog and dog walker plus two additional wristbands. (Wristbands allow automatic admission to the PETastic! event at 10 a.m.). All dogs must be on a 4 foot to 6 foot leash at all times. No extend-a-leashes permitted.
