Paradise Canyon’s Fifth Graders Set up Shops

Springtime at Paradise Canyon brought the return of the annual Fifth Grade Bizarea. Bizarea is a program started by longtime PCY teacher, Carol Bishop, who is now retired. It is an economics project for the fifth graders where they set up a variety of shops, and the other students in the school get to use pretend money to buy their items.

All of the merchandise up for sale is either homemade or donated by the fifth-grade shop owners, including baked goods, toys, books, and wagon rides. PCY shoppers learn how to budget their spending and calculate how much change they will receive as well as taking home their purchases.
