The California Theatrical Youth Ballet (Ctyballet) is holding auditions for “The Snow Queen,” an original holiday ballet, to be performed Dec. 21, 22, and 23 at the Glendale Community College Theatre. This will be the ninth season the company has performed this family treat. All ages from the community are invited to participate in this holiday production. Needed for chorus and gymnast roles are kids with varying levels of dance experience from beginners to advanced. Adults are also needed for minor dance and acting roles. The actor who has performed the role of the Narrator recently retired, the company is auditioning for the role. It calls for a “grandfather type.”

Auditions will be held at the California DanceArts studio, located at 4490 Cornishon Ave. in the Foothill Intermediate School Complex in La Cañada. On Friday, Sept. 15 auditions will be at 6:30 p.m. for young chorus, under 10 years. Saturday, Sept. 16 will have auditions for gymnasts of all ages beginning at 12:30 p.m. At 2 p.m. there will be the auditions for older chorus, 11 years and up, and at 6 p.m. auditions for adult acting roles.

Youth performers from ages 13 to 24 with dance training in ballet, jazz, modern and/or gymnastics who would like to try out for principle roles should contact Erin Holt at California DanceArts prior to the auditions.

Dancers at all auditions should bring photo, resume, dance attire and ballet or pointe shoes. Everyone will be auditioned in groups and should arrive early for sign-in.
