The major topic of discussion when the La Cañada Flintridge Orthopaedic Guild held its September meeting was the Book & Authors Luncheon the group is planning for Tuesday, Oct. 24 at the LCF Country Club.
The special event will feature three major authors, Lisa Lee, Susan Rios and Jean-Paul Orpinas. They will speak at the luncheon, thanks to the efforts of members Jo Est Boehner and Mary Lou Morrison.
Lee wrote “Snow Flower and the Secret Fan,” a novel about the secret writings used by women form more than a thousand years. Rios will feature her book, “Designer Scrapbooks with Susan Rios.” Jean-Paul Orpinas is a Disney artist and illustrator.
The luncheon is a combined effort of all of the Guild members who realize the importance of helping the children at Orthopaedic Hospital. Members brought gift baskets, gift certificates and other items to the meeting to be used at the fund-raiser.
Carolyn Stutz, chairman of ways and means, is overseeing the upcoming event. Wendy Nicoll and Jean Silliman have been working tirelessly, lining up items for raffle and silent auction. Caryl Pettit, chairman of invitations and programs, distributed invitations to members for mailing. Linda Labrie and Ruth Nordquist Wickel are involved in table settings.
