SF Graduate Matt Abby Helps Wagner Post 7-3 Homecoming Win Over Iona

Matt Abby, a St. Francis High graduate, threw the game-winning touchdown in Wagner College’s 7-3 Homecoming victory over Iona last Saturday in Staten Island, N.Y.

As the Seahawks got off to 2-0 start for the fifth straight year, senior wide receiver Chris Turner caught the decisive TD at the start of the fourth quarter.

He pulled down a nine-yard TD pass in the back of the end zone on a jump ball from sophomore QB Matt Abbey with 12:04 remaining in the contest.

Earlier in the game-winning drive, Abbey connected with running back Jason Butler on a 42-yard screen pass on third and 10.

Abbey completed 15 of 30 attempts for 151 yards, one TD and one interception.

The Seahawks return to action this Saturday under the lights in a 7 p.m. contest at Marist.
