Kidspace Presents Haunted Hoedown, Pumpkin Festival

Kidspace Children’s Museum presents the 12th Annual Pumpkin Festival on the weekend of Oct. 21-22, co-sponsored by Nestlé and Disney Worldwide Outreach.

This year’s event, named “Haunted Hoedown,” will feature rides, games, crafts, food, and entertainment for the entire family. Festivities include children’s costume parades, live stage performances, opportunity drawings, and much more.

Hours for the Pumpkin Festival are 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 22. It will be held in the grassy horseshoe and park area surrounding Kidspace Children’s Museum, which will be open during the event.

Established as a Halloween alternative in an old-fashioned carnival atmosphere, the Pumpkin Festival is an annual fundraiser for Kidspace Children’s Museum, organized and run by Kidspace’s volunteer support organization, the Circle of Friends.

Now in its 12th year, the Pumpkin Festival has established itself as a favorite draw in the local region. Children are encouraged to come in costume.

The Pumpkin Festival admission is free, and individual rides, games, crafts, and activities require tickets available for purchase onsite.

The Pumpkin Festival will feature performers for children and adults alike, including an interactive percussion performance with Rhythm Child, tales of a golden alien in Gustafer Yellowgold’s Wide Wild World, singer-songwriter Dave Kinnoin of Sesame Street and Bear in the Big Blue House, “Lori, Lori What’s the Story?”, Pasadena’s own Cottage Industry, and dancers from Ballet Folklorico and The Athletic Garage. “As a child, my whole awareness of the world was created by music, which has the potential to be a celebration of imagination where children can make their own connections, and invent their own interpretations,” states Morgan Taylor, a New York City-based singer/songwriter who is returning to Los Angeles for performances at the Pumpkin Festival and McCabe’s Guitar Shop in Santa Monica.

Wolfgang Puck Catering will be the exclusive caterer at this year’s Pumpkin Festival and Kidspace Children’s Museum. They will be offering favorites such as the Chinois Chicken Salad, and Four-Cheese Pizza, as well as specialties such as pumpkin pie and caramel apples.

Kidspace Children’s Museum is located at 480 N. Arroyo Blvd., Pasadena. Free parking is available in Lot I, in Brookside Park, adjacent to the Rose Bowl.

Kidspace Children’s Museum is committed to enriching the lives of children through exhibits and programs in the arts, sciences, and humanities that promote imagination, exploration, and discovery.
