Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic L.A. Announces Free LCF Event

Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic-Los Angeles (RFB&D-LA;) will hold its fifth annual free fund-raising event “Giving Students Wings,” that features local students with disabilities and parents sharing their stories of educational success. The event will take place at Descanso Gardens, at 1418 Descanso Dr. in La Cañada Flintridge on Thursday, Nov. 9, from noon to 1 p.m. Free admission to Descanso Gardens is also included for this event.
La Cañada Flintridge resident Karen Bristing, who is the proprietor of the Equinox Equestrian Center in La Tuna Canyon, is a new member of RFB&D-LA;’s board of directors and chair of their Fund Development Committee.
Bristing, who will host a table, is excited for the opportunity to invite the community to learn first-hand about RFB&D-LA;’s success stories.
RFB&D-LA; is a nonprofit organization that has a national library of more than 109,000 audio textbooks for students with vision impairment, physical disabilities or learning disabilities. RFB&D-LA; serves more than 2,900 students in the Los Angeles area. The organization’s membership is comprised of students in kindergarten through graduate school, as well as working professionals who find it difficult — or impossible — to read printed material. The Los Angeles Unit of RFB&D; has three local recording studios located in Reseda, Redondo Beach and Hollywood where volunteers record textbooks and other educational materials.
