La Cañada Freshman Trounce Host South Pasadena, 30-0

The LCHS Freshman football team stepped it up last Friday in South Pasadena with an overwhelming 30-0 Rio Hondo League victory over the Tigers.

The Spartans’ running game led the offense with a total of 295 yards, including 145 for Omar Rady, 78 for Jamie Dick and 72 for Josh Hanson. Other ball carriers were Adam Overgaard, Christian Porter and Patrick Hobart. Thirteen Spartans carried the ball with a combined 417 yards of offense

Rady had two touchdowns and Jonathan Sparks and Dick one each for La Cañada. Andrew Zaimes continues to be a valuable asset with three-for-three point after touchdown attempts.

Michael Knopf led the Spartans’ defense with four-and-a-half tackles and a rundown sack in the end zone for a safety. Sixteen Spartans made tackles including four for David Miller and three-and-a-half for Dodge Williams.

The Spartans look forward to this week’s league home game at 3:30 p.m. tomorrow (Friday) against the tough Temple City Rams.
