LC High Equestrian Team Wins First Show of 2006 IEL Season

The La Cañada High Equestrian Team won the first show of the IEL season, overpowering the second place team by a full 41 points, 238 to La Reina’s 197, last Sunday. The team came out strong against 61 other local area high schools as it began its quest for back-to-back championships..

Capturing the show championship, the La Cañada High Equestrian Team was also Varsity Division champions, lead by strong showings from Michelle Morris, Samantha Harrison, Emma Davis and Sarah Green.

Other highlights for the team was Cynthia Nufer’s capturing of the Freshman Division show champion. Samantha Harrison rode to third place overall finish in Varsity Equitation while Michelle Morris took the third place finish in Varsity Hunters.

Emma Davis and Sarah Green took second and third place, respectively, in the Varsity Jumpers Division. Haley Harrison finished third in the Junior Varsity Medal.

The riders for La Cañada High competed against more than 230 other riders with individual classes running as high as 80 competing riders.

At the IEL show, contributing riders included in the Varsity Division were Emma Davis, Michelle Morris, Ryan Ash, Samantha Harrison, Sarah Green, and Stephanie Green. Junior Varsity riders include Christine Daly, Haley Harrison, Olivia Warner, Jenny Love, Lisa Magill, Molly Davis, and Amie Hersey.

Freshman riders include Cynthia Nufer and Erika Hennon. Novice Team includes Annie Bonaccorso and Jean Van Buren and a special thanks to Barbara Solish for coming out and supporting the team.
