Share

The La Cañada High freshman football team defeated the Temple City Rams, 32-3, at home last Friday.

In the first half of the game, the Spartans scored a touchdown with each possession. The TDs included two pass receptions by Dodge Williams, running TDs by Omar Rady and Jonathan Sparks and a quarterback sneak by Jeff Grigg.

Contributing to the 280 impressive yards on the ground were running backs David Miller, Jamie Dick, Sparks, Ryan Shurie and Billy Platissa. Rady continues to excel with 138 all purpose yards.

The Spartans’ offensive line, Alex Reed, Tyler Stenzel, Michael Knopf, Paul Lee and Michael Thomas, manhandled the larger Rams’ defensive line all after noon allowing Gregg to pass for 162.

The Spartans’ defense shined with an incredible number of tackles from Austin Roy, Sparks and Miller. Spectacular interceptions by defensive backs Josh Hanson and Williams stifled the Rams’ offense.

The Spartans will travel to Arleta today (Thursday) for a nonleague game at 3 p.m.
