City Spaces, Inc., Celebrates 20th Anniversary With Purchase of Space

City Spaces, Inc., the only 100% woman-owned design organization on the LABJ’s list of top 20 commercial interior design firms in Los Angeles specializing in innovative design solutions for corporate spaces, is celebrating its 20th anniversary with the purchase of a new 6,000 sq. ft. building. In the past 20 years, City Spaces has completed more than 3,000 design projects totaling over 15 million sq. ft. of office space.

City Spaces, Inc. new offices are located at 836 South Arroyo Parkway in Pasadena. Bill Boyd and Linda Lee of Grubb & Ellis represented City Spaces, Inc. in the purchase; Carl Anderson also of Grubb & Ellis represented the building. Recent City Spaces, Inc. design projects include 120,000 sq. ft. for the Los Angeles Unified School District downtown, transition of a Bank of America building into offices for the California School of Culinary Arts in Pasadena, and on-going work for major entertainment studios.

City Spaces, Inc.’s president and founder, Christie Skinner, A.S.I.D., started City Spaces from scratch in 1986 with just one other employee to form the mid-size design organization that offers the expertise and sophistication of a large company, while maintaining the personal touch of a small firm. From the start, she focused on addressing the needs of the brokerage real estate community. City Spaces’ steady growth has come principally from high tech, insurance and entertainment industry clients, and from diversification by industry as well as cost level.

Over the past 10 years, Christie Skinner and the staff at City Spaces, Inc. have single-handedly raised over $250,000 for children’s causes. Beneficiaries of the annual spring City Spaces Golf Tournaments and fall City Spaces Casino Nights, attended by the top real estate brokers and developers from within the Greater Los Angeles area, have been Child SHARE in Glendale, Harambee Center of Northwest Pasadena and Foothill Family Services in Pasadena.
