Reindeer Ring Bells for the Christmas Season

Dec. 15 was the last day before winter break for preschoolers at Crescenta-Cañada Cooperative Nursery School, and they finished it off with a grand performance to commemorate Christmas.
For the past couple of weeks, the 3- and 4-year-olds, led by teacher Nita Imm — a.k.a. Mrs. Nita — have been practicing and learning songs and poems of the season for their annual program.
After listening to the nativity story, it was their turn to share with the audience of moms, dads, aunts, uncles, grandparents, siblings and friends such songs as “There Was a Little Baby,” “Twinkle, Twinkle Christmas Star” and “We Wish You a Merry Christmas.”
In the second part of the program, preschoolers turned into reindeer, singing songs and reciting poems on stage. Each introduction was carefully given by a 3- or 4-year-old stepping up to the microphone.
As each child jingled their bells to the music — with their bright holiday cheer — the special moments of the day were forever etched in the minds of everyone present.
The preschool, on the grounds of the Lutheran Church in the Foothills at 1700 Foothill Blvd., La Cañada, offers a Monday-Wednesday-Friday program for 4- to 5-year-olds and a Tuesday-Thursday program for 2 years 9 months to 3-year-olds.
