The Bargain Box Is 50 Years Old

Like any lady reaching a 50th birthday, the Bargain Box Thrift Shop, operated by Assistance League of Flintridge, is having a year-long celebration of the milestone.

Some “re-sculpting” has already taken place with the resurfacing of the parking lot in front of the building, presenting a fresh appearance and better defined spaces.

Another improvement has been new signage on the building and on the street side post. The new signage is brighter, has larger print and more clearly identifies the Assistance League logo. New signs have also been designed to call attention to special sales at the Bargain Box — i.e.: Valentine’s, Easter, Halloween, Ritz Rack Holiday Dresses, etc. Shoppers will know about these special sales before even entering the shop.

Shoppers will find the Bargain Box open extra hours during March when, on Tuesdays, the store will be open until 7 p.m. Bargain Box Chairman Melinda Horwith says, “We hope these extra hours will accommodate our customers who work and find it difficult to shop during the week. Although the extra hours in March are only a trial, they could become a regular shift if there is enough customer response.”

The Bargain Box, located at 4607 Oakwood Ave., is currently open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday and Saturday; closed Wednesday and Sunday. For more information call the League office at 790-1328 between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. or go online to www.alflintridge.org. Assistance League of Flintridge is a chapter of National Assistance League.
