— Saturday, March 24, at 1 p.m. Luis M. Chiappe, author of “Glorified Dinosaurs: The Origins and Early Evolution of Birds,” will be speaking at the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. The lecture will be held at the Museum’s Jean S. Delacour Auditorium, west of South Lawn entrance. The event is free with Museum admission. The Catskill Sonata — Through Saturday, April 14. The Hayworth Theatre presents The Catskill Sonata written by Michael Elias and directed by Paul Mazursky. This is a funny and poignant story of activism, desire and loss. Set in the 1950s when left-leaning writers, musicians and artists were blacklisted by probing government committees, The show will play Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m. Special performance on Sunday, March 18, at 7 p.m. The theatre is located at 2509 Wilshire Blvd. (two blocks east of Rampart). March 29, 30 and 31 A six piece ensemble from Portland, Ore., is a mix of opera, 1920s European cabaret, Balkan bellydance and Yiddish theater. — Through April 1, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 3 p.m. The dramedy concerns two Vietnam veterans, Joe and Lou. Joe is a pillar of his community — in fact, he is about to be honored as South Dakota’s Man of the Year. Lou is his long-lost army buddy, an aimless soul who is following the traveling Vietnam War Memorial around the country.
