Renowned watercolor artist John J. (Jim) Salchak will be the featured demonstrator at the Verdugo Hills Art Association meeting on Friday, May 4. The Association meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Citibank Community Room, 2350 Honolulu Ave. in Montrose, and is open to the public for a $5 donation.

Salchak, a self taught and prolific watercolorist for over thirty years, has received the prestigious “signature member” designation from the National Watercolor Society, Watercolor West and the Nevada and San Diego Watercolor Societies. His paintings are seen in numerous local and national juried exhibitions and currently can be seen at the Schroeder Gallery in Orange.

Salchak’s paintings have been published in Best of Watercolor, People in Watercolor and Watercolor Expressions. Feature articles on his work appeared in Watercolor magazine and American Artist magazine. Recently retired from his career as a professional engineer, Salchak now devotes his full time to painting in his studio in Cerritos.

At the Association’s meeting on May 4, Salchak will paint a landscape that will be donated as the raffle prize that evening for some lucky guest. For further information, contact Sandy Rooney at 249-9006.
