La Crescenta Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints:Boyd Packer to Speak at Combined Latter-day Saints Conference

President Boyd K. Packer, acting president of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church), will preside over and speak at a combined conference of the congregations of the La Crescenta and Glendale Stakes of the LDS Church on Saturday and Sunday, June 2 and 3.

With a membership of almost 13 million people and over 27,000 congregations world-wide, it is extremely rare for an Apostle to speak to congregations in Southern California, but this is the second time in six months that President Packer has presented in the Southern California foothills area.

Accompanying him will be Elder Ronald A. Rasband of the Presidency of the Seventy and Elder L. Whitney Clayton of the First Quorum of the Seventy of the LDS Church.

President Packer became acting president of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles in 1994, and has served as an apostle of the LDS Church for 37 years.

He was an educator by profession and has served on the Administrative Council of Brigham Young University.

He has bachelor and masters of science degrees from the University of Utah and an Ed.D. in educational administration from BYU.

He also served as a bomber pilot during World War II in the Pacific theater. Packer is the author of numerous books and published works.

The Conference will be held at 4550 Raymond Avenue, La Crescenta.

Saturday’s session for those ages 18 and older starts at 7 p.m. Sunday’s session is for all ages and runs from 10 a.m. to 12 noon.

The public is welcome, but seating and parking will be limited so an early arrival is recommended.
