Pitcher Leads Team to Victory

Alyssa Stolmack, 10, loves softball.
Though she’s dabbled in soccer and other activities, softball is definitely her favorite.
“I like how everything is fast-paced and unpredictable,” she said.
Alyssa recently pitched her 10-and-under SoCal3D travel team to third place at the the Triple Crown Sports Fastpitch Softball World Series in Park City, Utah.
One of many victories she has experienced over her six and a half years of playing the game, Alyssa also fondly remembers last years’ district tournament with her La Cañada tournament team.
“We were the underdogs there and we came in second place,” said Alyssa, who is excited to watch coach and team sponsor Crystl Bustos play for Team USA in next year’s 2008 Olympics.
She plans to continue playing softball well into high school, college, and hopefully beyond.
“But it’s not all about winning and losing, it’s about character,” she says with wisdom beyond her years. “You could be the best player but if you have a bad attitude, no one will want you on their team.”
