City Council meets Tuesday

The La Cañada Flintridge City Council will discuss plans for disseminating information to residents concerning the planned sewer district No. 5 during its meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the council chambers of City Hall, 1327 Foothill Blvd. The regular Monday night meeting was rescheduled due to Labor Day.

The Council also will listen to staff recommendations and public comments concerning the city’s animal control ordinance.

Man arrested after caught trespassing

According to a Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s report, a La Cañada man received a call from his daughter while driving to his Flintridge Avenue home at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. She said there was a man wearing a black T-shirt and shorts standing in their backyard and when she made eye contact, he ran off. Shortly thereafter the homeowner, arriving at his property, saw the suspect running away from the home.

Armed with a baseball bat handed to him by his son, the resident gave chase by foot. At the request of the resident, the suspect sat on the curb and waited for sheriff deputies to arrive. Deputies determined that the suspect, a 30-year-old man from Glendale, was attempting to steal a bicycle from the residence. He was arrested.

Two car thefts reported

Two vehicles in La Cañada Flintridge were stolen Sunday. The first, a Scion XB, was stolen from a residence in the 4700 block of Las Colinas Lane in the early morning hours.

The second, a BMW 750, was stolen later that evening as it was parked in the United Artists Theater parking lot. Crescenta Valley Sheriff detectives are investigating. Anyone with information is advised to call the sheriff’s station, (818) 248-3464.
