Design Commission approves projects
The city’s design commission has approved work at two commerical properties in La Cañada this month, according to Robert Stanley, director of community development, in his Oct. 10 report to the city manager.
La Cañada Auto at 743 Foothill Blvd. received approvals for a new painted wall sign and a monument sign.
A rear facade remodeling is in store for Diet for Health at 1047 Foothill Boulevard, which will also get a new trash enclosure.
At a later date the commission will look at final landscaping and signage plans for the new, larger building that will replace the existing Georgee’s Pizza structure in the 700 block of Foothill.

Toy drive at local hospital in November
Donations will be accepted at Verdugo Hills Hospital in November for Union Rescue Mission’s Christmas Toy Drive, it was announced this week.
Viktoria Meyers, vice president of business development for the hospital, said the effort will make “the holiday season a bit brighter for the homeless and the working poor of Los Angeles County. Homelessness is not one community’s issue, nor one hospital’s issue, it is a societal issue.”
