Beach party for dads and their daughters

Share

Mountain Avenue Elementary was Surf City, USA on Friday night as dads and their little surfer girl daughters enjoyed a night of hula-hoop races and California dreamin’ music at the Daddy Daughter Dance sponsored by Girls Scout Troop 943.

The Girl Scouts decided that a daddy daughter dance was a great way to raise money for their troop and for a worthy cause; a portion of the money raised was donated to Save the Whales foundation.

The beach party theme was complete with tropical decorations and dads dressed in their best Hawaiian shirts. Little girls, in flip flops and bare feet, giggled as their dads showed them how “cool” they could dance, or at least how “cool” they thought they could dance.

“This is fun,” said fourth grader and Girl Scout Kristy Hale. “I like doing this [the dance]. It’s fun and we’re helping the whales.”
