LCFTRA Bingo BBQ at Thursday Club

On Saturday, May 3, LCF Tournament of Roses Assn. will hold its annual Bingo Barbecue, this time at the La Cañada Thursday Club, 4440 Woodleigh Lane. The no-host reception will begin at 6 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m., and bingo at 8 p.m. The cost of $40 per person includes dinner, one bingo card, eight games of bingo with prizes awarded for each game, and one door-prize ticket. Additional bingo cards will be available at $l each. Also, raffle tickets for additional opportunities to win prizes will be sold.

Sue Beatty, chair of the event, says there’s ample parking, no steps to climb, and Patrick Campbell and his fine chef from Damon’s Steak House will prepare the barbecued meat on site, and will offer all the fixings to go with it. Bob Wallace will emcee the event, and by popular demand Tom Slaughter will again be one of the eight local folks calling the bingo games. This is a casual, fun event, anyone over 18 is invited, and proceeds will help fund the construction of La Cañada Flintridge’s 2009 float.

Prize donations are being sought; donors will be listed in the printed program, and donations are fully tax-deductible. Local businesses and organizations generously providing support to date include The Apple Cart, Aquarium of the Pacific, Beckham Grill, Bristol Farms, Bronson Photography, Damon’s Restaurant, Descanso Gardens, Dish Restaurant, El Cholo Restaurant Pasadena, Earth Oasis Computers, Green Street Restaurant and Honolulu Jewelry.

Newcomers White Elephant Party

The La Cañada Newcomers held their annual White Elephant Party March 29 at the home of Vacit and Sheila Arat. Food from around the world was served with an international potluck, for which everyone brought a dish from the country of their choice. There were a lot of laughs playing a gift exchange game with the white elephant gifts. It was a fun time for all.
