Palm Crest’s last Spirit Rally of the year opened and ended to cheers, screams and applause which echoed around the playground on June 13.
The Spirit Really began with the pledge of allegiance and the school song.
“I have two kids that attend LC schools and as a mom I see how the spirit rallies are fun for a lot of the kids and it’s been a great experience,†said P.E. aide Nancy Tinkham.
Goodbyes to teachers moving or retiring were saved for the end. Coach Carol Jarzom Beck is moving to Texas, Rachel Bachmuth is moving to teach third grade at Paradise Canyon Elementary, district nurse Evy Hamm is retiring, kindergarten teacher Maggie Landau-Verkade is retiring and speech therapist Nancy Low is retiring.
Anais Wenn, the principal, said to the graduating sixth graders, “You have been good role models and have proved it is possible through hard work and dedication to successfully move forward.â€
Students held up their goodbye banners and then ran off to the playground before their summer began.
“I can’t even believe the year has passed by because it’s all so natural and a great part of my life,†said Wenn.
“I feel like they are all my children and I’m honored to be their principal.â€
