Film Review:

Hellboy is back in this summer’s adaptation of the graphic novel, “Hellboy II — The Golden Army.”

This time around, Hellboy (Ron Perlman) is fighting a mythical prince and his quest to bring to life an army of robotic golden troops 70 times 70 strong that cannot be stopped. The only way to control them is by wearing a crown of gold and commanding them to do your bidding. Hellboy and his team have to stop the prince from finding all three pieces of the crown and waking the Golden Army or the world will be destroyed.

This installment of Hellboy was better than the first, but still nothing to write home about. Director Guillermo del Toro, of course, included amazing creatures and Selma Blair looks great as always, but it just doesn’t have that spark of greatness that makes you want to rush out and see Hellboy III, if it ever is made. All in all, an okay movie, but with the newest installment in Batman films approaching, “The Dark Knight”, this reporter suggests saving your money to go for what looks to be a more promising comic book action movie sequel.

Rated PG-13 for sci-fi violence, action, and some language. I give this film 3 out of 5 stars.
