Debutantes presented at Annual June Ball

Thehe Pasadena Guild of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles held its 47th Annual June Ball on Saturday, June 21, in the Crystal Ballroom of the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in Los Angeles.

Members and guests celebrated the presentation of 16 young women who, together with their families, have supported the work of Childrens Hospital Los Angeles.

Proceeds from the June Ball will support the Pasadena Guild’s current project, The Pasadena Guild Endowment for Program Enhancement and Faculty Retention in Developmental Biology.

Guild President Mrs. Edward Raymond Grace III (Marcia) and Ball Chairmen Mrs. Kenneth Simms Caldwell (Terri) and Mrs. Schuyler Hollingsworth, Jr. (Deborah) and their husbands greeted guests prior to the Ball.

The presentation began at 8:30 p.m. with welcome remarks by Mrs. Grace and also Dr. David Warburton, who oversees the Guild-funded project in developmental biology.

The Crystal Ballroom was transformed into a garden wonderland by Jacob Maarse Florists as the debutantes were presented under a lavish fragrant floral archway in shades of peach, coral, yellow and sage green.

The archway was architecturally landscaped by English maze-like boxwood hedging, which continued at the base of the stage with whimsical light and airy flowing floral accents.

The debutantes were presented by Mr. William John Garnett III. . After making their curtsies, the debutantes returned to the dance floor for the first waltz with their fathers to the music of Rembrandt.

Debutantes and guests enjoyed dinner surrounded by table centerpieces of peach cymbidium and yellow oncidium orchids, green bouvardia, large coral dahlias and roses in peaches and yellows accented by a fun rose in a pungent orange color

Emmalyn Clare Chandler, daughter of Mrs. Robert Donald Chandler (Marilyn) and the late Mr. Chandler.

Amanda Margaret Darnell, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gary Allen Darnell (Katie) of San Marino, and daughter of Pasadena Guild Member Mrs. Gary Allen Darnell.
