For those in La Cañada who would like to turn the clock back to a simpler time, the La Cañada High School Jazz Band and Chamber Singers have just the thing. On Sunday, March 29, at 5 p.m. the LCHS Jazz Band and Chamber Singers will be performing at the La Cañada Thursday Club, 4440 Woodleigh Lane in La Cañada.

These award-winning groups will be performing Big Band Swing Music of the ‘30s and ‘40s in the elegant setting of the Thursday Club.

Sporting their trademark tuxedos and evening dresses, these talented young men and women will be performing on the stage overlooking the dance floor where swing dancers are encouraged to show their stuff. Built in the 1920s, the Thursday Club offers a perfect venue for this event.

Performing in front of the Jazz Band, members of the nationally acclaimed LCHS Chamber Singers will sing such dance standards as Duke Ellington’s “Satin Doll,” Frank Sinatra’s “I’ve Got You Under My Skin” and the Andrew Sisters’ “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy.” For one special evening, the Thursday Club will be transformed into an elegant ballroom reminiscent of the grand dance halls of days gone by. The price of admission includes wine, hors d’oeuvres and dancing into the evening. Proceeds from the event, which is billed as “Club LC”, will go to support the LCHS Jazz Band.

Tickets are $40; to purchase them call McNally Sagal at (818) 790-6335.
