Doris Jean Fekety passed away on May 19, 2009, after recently celebrating her 79th birthday and 57th wedding anniversary. She was a resident of La Cañada Flintridge for 34 years and a member of St. Bede the Venerable Parish.

Doris was born in Bayonne, N.J. on April 26, 1930 to John and Marian Richvalsky. Upon graduation from Bayonne High School in 1947, she worked for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in New York. In 1952 she married Emery Fekety, her high school sweetheart.

God and family was the centerpiece of Doris’ life. For many years, she worked as a volunteer in the St. Bede Skidettes, which prepared lunches for the homeless on Skid Row. She and her husband traveled to the Holy Land as well as Lourdes, France with a group from the St. Bede Parish. They also visited many countries throughout Europe, as well as New England and enjoyed bus trips to Laughlin, Nev.

Her sister, Frances Richvalsky, preceded Doris in death. She is survived by her loving husband, Emery, and her brother, John. She also leaves her three children, Kevin Fekety, Donna Bennett and husband Rich, and Rose Fekety. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Brent and Kandice Fekety and Eric and Andrew Bennett.

Doris was a loving wife, devoted mother and cherished grandmother and friend. All who knew her will miss her kindness and gentle spirit.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday, May 22 at St. Bede the Venerable Church, followed by interment at San Fernando Mission Cemetery.
