Barbara Lyon James Harrison, a longtime resident of La Cañada, died June 29 at the age of 87.

She was born in Hollywood on Jan. 19, 1922. She moved to La Cañada in November of 1951. Bobbe was an only child and attended Fairfax High School and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Occidental College. She met and married her first husband, William Dean James, a lieutenant in the Army Air Corps, in 1944.

Bobbe’s love of family extended to her greatest passion, genealogy. She wrote seven books which were acclaimed for her thorough documentation and conclusions. As well as a writer, Bobbe loved to travel the world. She met Royal G. Harrison at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory and married him in 1965. The family moved to and lived on the campus of IIT Kanpur, India from 1970-72, where they traveled extensively throughout the country and the world.

Bobbe was the heart of her family. She is survived by her loving husband Royal, daughter Dr. Susan James, daughter Linda James Franco and her husband Bob Franco, her son Mark James and his wife Christine, son Evan James and his wife Lauree and grandchildren Jamie Franco and her husband Dr. Neil Bhayani, William James, Lauren James and Samantha James.

Bobbe you will be greatly missed, but, always loved.
