The Gould Canyon Trail, particularly popular with dog walkers, equestrians, runners and bicyclists, extends from Hahamongna Watershed Park to the Cross Town Trail north of Harter Lane, approximately 2.2 miles.
Beginning at Foothill Boulevard near Oak Grove Drive, the trail provides a varied experience for the user. The trail access points include Foothill Boulevard across from the La Cañada High School parking lot, the north end of Viro Road, Crown Avenue near San Juan Way, east end of Stardust Road, Mero Lane, Cañon de Paraiso, Gould Avenue at Knight Way, the east end of Green Lane, and Harter Lane. The trail also intersects with Horse Lane, which is about one-half mile long, extending from Foothill across from St. Francis High School, to Crown Avenue.
When the trail crosses Knight Way, it continues along the wash, and soon transitions to a smaller path as it climbs toward the foothills. Beyond Green Lane the trail is surrounded by natural beauty and soon passes under the arch of the Angeles Crest Bridge. Approaching Harter Lane, the trail parallels a driveway, enters Harter Lane and heads north on the street for about a block. At this point, the Gould Canyon Trail enters the foothills and becomes a “wilderness trail,” joining up with the Cross Town trail.
Trail maps detailing the local system are available at The Valley Sun, City Hall, LCF Chamber of Commerce, Sport Chalet and Flintridge Bookstore and Coffeehouse.
