LC frosh gets second at Keppel

It took a team effort to beat Montebello in the first round of the Mark Keppel Tournament on Saturday, 49-19, as everyone got into the game. Jack Anderson led the way with 11 points and 10 rebounds, Ryan Lee had 12 points, Jack Finnigan had nine points and five rebounds and Patrick Barron did the dirty work off the bench with five rebounds and two steals.

Mario Del Cueto kept the Spartans alive with 19 points, four rebounds and four steals in their 44-27 second round victory over La Salle. Ryan Lee had 10 points, eight rebounds and four assists and played phenomenal defense with three steals and taking the key charges when La Salle was making runs. Jack Anderson provided 12 points and 13 rebounds.

In the finals game on Sunday, Glendora got off to a 10-point lead in the first half and the Spartans couldn’t recover, losing 57-44. Jack Anderson had 20 points, and 12 rebounds. All-Tournament team selection Ryan Lee had 13 points, five rebounds, seven steals, and took two charges.

Glendora was a great team no question,” said La Cañada Freshman Team Head Coach R.T. Van Valer. “But when you go out and have 24 turnovers and two assists on the night, that’s just not going to get the job done. That’s definitely going to be a focal point for our next practices and especially before league play begins.”
