Lloyd Henry Busma
A celebration of Lloyd Henry Busma’s life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, at the Coastlands Church, 280 State Park Drive, Aptos, Calif.
He was born Jan. 22, 1925 in Rancher, Mont., to John Hans and Erna Busma. He passed away in Santa Cruz on Oct. 23.
He farmed the family farm in Hysham, Mont. while also pursuing a career as a mechanical engineer for Lockheed Aircraft. The Busmas lived in La Cañada Flintridge for 35 years and were active in the North Hollywood First Assembly of God Church.
Lloyd served in World War II as a truck driver in Europe. He earned a B.S. in mechanical engineering in 1951 from Montana State University.
During retirement he moved from La Cañada to Santa Cruz. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Belma, of Santa Cruz; by a sister, Helen Holmes of Seattle; a brother, John Busma of Riverside; and a sister, Ethel Ward of Billings, Mont.; a daughter, Marilou Church, and husband Rick of Gig Harbor Wash.; a son, Jeff Busma and wife Sally of Aptos; five grandchildren: Erica Lathan and husband Brian, Christine Boymatov and husband Isroil, Megan Buono, Jesse Busma, Amanda Busma; three step-grandchildren: Alisa Southerland and her husband John, Lindsay Church, Anna Church; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Hans and Erna Busma, a brother, Dick Busma, and a sister, Evelyn Johnson.
