Area 1

2900 block of Community Avenue: A Crescenta Valley High School teacher placed an iPod on a desk in the back of a classroom on July 1 at 2 p.m. When the teacher returned the next morning, the iPod was missing. The loss was valued at $225.

2800 block of Los Olivos Lane: A woman returned home from work on July 2 at 3:45 p.m. and noticed someone standing behind a wooden gate. She called out to the individual, and the person ran across the backyard and fled. The homeowner then saw that a plastic trash can had been placed next to a bathroom window, and the plastic screen clip had been removed. The suspect was described as about 14, with an olive complexion, curly black hair and wearing glasses.

2700 block of Florencita Drive: A 1998 Honda Civic was stolen on July 1-2 between 9 p.m. and 10:30 a.m. The car was parked on the street in front of a private residence.

Pennsylvania Avenue and Foothill Boulevard: A motorist was stopped at a red light on July 3 at 6:45 a.m. when struck from behind by another car. Deputies reported to the scene, where they saw that the driver of the second car appeared intoxicated. Deputies conducted a DUI test, and the driver acknowledged she had had several drinks in the hours prior to the accident. The driver was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

2300 block of Shields Avenue: The windows of a trailer on the rear of a private property were smashed sometime between June 29 and July 2. The intruder searched the trailer, moving items around, but nothing was stolen. The damage to the windows was estimated at $250.

Area 2

Ocean View and Foothill boulevards: Sheriff’s deputies stopped a male motorist for playing loud music while driving on July 1. As the deputies approached the vehicle, they smelled burned marijuana. The suspect admitted he had marijuana in the car, and said he bought it from a friend. The marijuana was confiscated, and the suspect was cited.

5300 block of Vista Lejana Lane: A La Cañada resident parked his 2008 Mercedes in his driveway while away on vacation July 1 to July 3. When he returned, he discovered that several items had been stolen from the unlocked vehicle, including a JPL identification card, a Harley Davidson wallet, and iPod and a 17-inch Apple laptop. The total loss was valued at $2,024.

5500 block of Godbey Drive: A woman parked her 2005 Infiniti SUV in the parking lot at the La Cañada Flintridge Country Club on July 2 at 1:30 p.m. When she returned several hours later, she saw that the rear passenger window had been shattered and her purse was missing. Items stolen included the purse, checks, credit cards, cash and a California driver’s license. The total loss was valued at $600.

Area 3

3900 block of Hampstead Road: Someone entered an unlocked house that was undergoing a remodel overnight on June 30 and July 1 between 6:30 p.m. and 9:30 a.m. Several construction tools, including table saw, chop saw, nail gun and drill, were stolen. The total loss was valued at $7,320.
