Walter B. Ryburn died at home on June 27 after a six-month struggle with cancer. He was 82.
Born in Butte, Mont., on Oct. 2, 1927, Ryburn lived in the Crescenta-Cañada Valley since 1961. He worked in the insurance industry for 45 years and retired last summer.
He was an active member of the Lions Club, Gideons International, and worshiped at First Baptist Church at La Crescenta.
Ryburn enjoyed gardening, traveling, cooking, Dodger games and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Pat; a sister, two sons, a daughter, and six grandchildren.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Baptist Church at La Crescenta.
