Area 1

4900 block of Briggs Avenue: A man reported that someone vandalized his 2006 Toyota Scion that was parked overnight on Aug. 12-13 between 10:30 p.m. and 5 :50 a.m. There were scratches and residue from cracked eggs on the driver’s-side and passenger-side doors. The victim said his neighbor had a security camera that might have captured the incident. The damage was valued at $500.

Honolulu and Orangedale avenues: Sheriff’s deputies observed a man searching through a sofa that was on the west curb of Orangedale Avenue in Montrose. The deputies approached the man, who was unable to produce identification and volunteered that he had three outstanding warrants. Deputies arrested the man, 38-year-old Jason Slagle, of Los Angeles. A search revealed methamphetamines, as well as several presumably stolen items including cell phones, a cell phone bill, SIM cards, a credit card, a gym membership and a makeup bag.

4300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue: Someone smashed the back passenger window of a 2003 Chevy truck that was parked in front of a house overnight on Aug. 14-15 between 3:30 p.m. and 12:15 p.m. A radio and speakers were stolen. The total loss and damage was valued at $200.

3000 block of Foothill Boulevard: A man stopped at a Shell gas station to fill his gas tank on Aug. 13 at 4 p.m. He left his car unlocked for about five minutes while he used the restroom. He returned to find his trunk open. He thought nothing of it, closed the trunk and left. But several hours later, he realized that his computer had been stolen from the trunk. The loss was valued at $500.

5000 block of Westslope Lane: Someone broke into a residence overnight on Aug. 12-13 between 4 p.m. and 2 p.m. A screen on a bedroom window was displaced, and several drawers and cabinets were left open. The homeowners were not available to conduct an inventory.

Buckhorn Campground, Angeles Crest Highway: A green Coleman lantern and propane cans from a table top at a campsite were stolen on Aug. 15 between 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. while a camper was sleeping in a tent nearby. The total loss was valued at $40.

1900 block of Foothill Boulevard: A woman reported that she parked her 2010 Hyundai Elantra in the YMCA parking lot on Aug. 16 at 8:45 p.m. When she returned an hour later, she found several items were missing from her trunk including a Marc Jacobs purse, credit cards, cash, a California driver’s license and checkbooks. The total loss was valued at $960.
