Area 1: 2600 block Pontiac Street: A woman left her house on Aug. 27 at 10:30 a.m. When she returned several hours later she found that a laundry-room window had been forced open and an engagement ring was missing. The total loss and damage was estimated at $2,305.

2500 block of Teasley Street: A woman left her house on Aug. 28 at 2 p.m. She returned three hours later to find the home had been burglarized. The intruder apparently entered through an unlocked window at the rear of the residence. Two gold necklaces and two gold rings were missing. The total loss was valued at $2,200.

3000 block Paraiso Way: A woman reported that someone had entered and exited her house through a door to the master bedroom on Aug. 30 between 10:50 a.m. and 12:55 p.m., but she had not yet determined whether anything was missing.

1300 block Descanso Drive: A man left his lawn mower unsecured in his driveway next to his car on Aug. 30 at 2:40 p.m. When he walked to the front of his property he saw two Hispanic males drive away in a late 1990’s brown Ford Explorer, which quickly drove away eastbound onto Descanso Drive. The mower, valued at $1,200, was missing.

Area 2

1900 block of Foothill Boulevard: A woman placed items in an unlocked locker at the Crescenta-Cañada YMCA on Aug. 26 at 4:30 p.m. She returned two hours later to find her car keys, attached to a Gucci key chain, missing from her purse. She went to her 1999 Mercedes in the parking lot, and found it unlocked. Her purse had been disturbed and cash was missing. The total loss was valued at $335.

4800 block of Oakwood Avenue: Construction workers left equipment at an unsecured site on Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. They returned the next morning to find four jackhammers missing. The total loss was valued at $2,600.

Verdugo Boulevard and Hilldale Drive: Thirty-two hydraulic shores were stolen from a construction site between Aug. 27 at 3:30 p.m. and Aug. 30 at 6:50 a.m. The shores weren’t secured but were stacked with a 500 lb. steel plate on top of them. Deputies found the suspects had used an automobile jack to lift one side of the plate. The other side was somehow lifted and left resting on two wood decks. The suspects made away with $20,000 worth of shores valued at $625 each.

900 block of Bay Tree Road: A man conducted a courtesy check Aug. 28 of the home of some neighbors while they were out of town. He found the home’s rear door was open and called 911. Deputies determined the house had been ransacked between 3 p.m. and 9 p.m. They saw cabinets and dresser drawers had been pulled out and their content scattered all over the house. Since the victims were out of town officers were unable to tell what was taken.

1100 block of Oro Vista: Deputies pulled over a 1987 BMW for driving with expired tags on Aug. 31 at 10 a.m. When they approached the occupants in the car they immediately smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. Officers found a plastic wrap containing a black tar substance resembling heroin in the left-front shirt pocket of one of the suspects, a glass pipe with a circular end containing black residue and a plastic bag containing marijuana in the purse of the car’s other occupant. She admitted she had no medical marijuana prescription card. The two suspects were taken into custody and the evidence was confiscated for a narcotics investigation.

Area 3

4400 block of Union Street: Someone broke into a locked storage container located to the rear of the property sometime overnight Aug. 25-26. The suspect stole eight lighting fixtures and one roll of electrical wire. The total loss was valued at $820.

800 block of Foothill Boulevard: Deputies responded to an audible burglary alarm call at Euro Jewelers on Aug. 31 at 12:40 a.m. They saw the front glass door was partially smashed, the back door had been pried open and the entire store ransacked. The total loss and damages was valued at $21,500.
