Crime Blotter-Jan. 12

The following were taken from reports on file at the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station:

Area 1

3100 block of Brookhill Street: A resident called the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station after he noticed three woman trying to open the door of his car at around 11:45 p.m. on Jan. 7 while the vehicle as parked in front of his home. The man confronted the suspects, who he said fled in a blue Kia Accent.

2400 block of Foothill Boulevard: A woman reported her purse stolen between noon and 3 p.m. on Jan. 7 from a classroom workbench at The Art Room. Inside the purse were $100 in cash and several credit cards, one of which was later used to make a purchase at a gas station.

3000 block of Stevens Street: A man reported that his house and car keys and a set of keys for his workplace were stolen overnight on Jan. 1 from an unlocked car that was parked in his driveway. A second unlocked vehicle in the driveway appeared to have been rummaged through, but nothing was missing.

2900 block of Stevens Street: An iPod valued at $100 was stolen overnight on Jan. 1 from the passenger- door storage compartment of a 1990 Acura Integra parked in front of the victim’s home. The intruder also damaged the vehicle’s tachometer.

2900 block of Stevens Street: A man who left a 1994 Honda Accord unlocked as it was parked in his driveway between 7:30 p.m. and 9:20 p.m. on Dec. 31 reported that the contents of the vehicle were stolen during that time. Missing were $500 worth of CDs containing miscellaneous computer programs, a GPS device valued at $300, a Dell computer ($280), computer monitor ($160), computer power supply ($50) and $30 in currency.

4100 block of Rincon Avenue: A 2008 Kia Rondo parked on a residential street was vandalized between 8 p.m. Dec. 31 and 3 p.m. Jan. 1. Scratches around the driver’s side door, front and rear panels and the rear passenger door appear to have been caused by a key or other small metal object. The damage was valued at $1,000.

Area 2

5400 block of Burning Tree Drive: A woman who returned home at about 10 p.m. on Jan. 7 discovered her glass rear patio door had been smashed and her bedroom ransacked while she had been away that afternoon. A 5-carat diamond ring valued at $4,000, a gold and diamond necklace valued at $2,000 and a gold pendant necklace also valued at $2,000 were stolen from the bedroom. The home’s alarm system was not armed at the time of the theft. The victim reported having seen an unfamiliar silver sedan parked near her home that morning.

2100 block of La Cañada Crest Drive: A man reported on Jan. 5 that his bicycle was stolen from the common area of his multi-unit residence sometime over the previous three days. The suspect removed the red bicycle, valued at $50, by cutting a cable lock securing it to a poll.
