Former La Cañada resident Nancy Ann Carr died Feb. 18, 2011 at St. Johns Hospital in Santa Monica of complications from chordoma bone cancer that she fought for more than 10 years.

Born Sept. 8, 1960 in Hollywood, Carr was a member of the class of 1978 at La Cañada High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism, with a concentration in public relations, from USC. She was a well-liked and well-respected public-relations veteran and a television corporate communications executive, most recently for the Hallmark Channel. Prior to that she worked for both the CBS and Fox networks.

She was known for her dedication to animal rescue, caring for feral cats.

Carr is survived by her husband, Ronnie Bradford, of West Los Angeles; and her brother, Michael Carr, of Pasadena. She also leaves a step-child, Leslie Bradford of Rancho Cucamonga.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to feralcatcaretakers.org or fixnation.org.
