Deputies arrest burglary suspect

A man in his early 20s was arrested on Wednesday after allegedly trying to burglarize his grandparents’ La Cañada Flintridge home for the second time in two days.

Sgt. Ray Harley of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station said the man apparently first broke into the home on Starlane Drive on Tuesday night and was told by the occupants, believed to be his grandparents, that he was not welcome there.

Despite that warning, the suspect allegedly returned to the home on Wednesday and forced his way in through a window. The victims once again called for help, and the intruder fled.

Minutes later, deputies found the suspect a few blocks down the street and arrested him on suspicion of burglary, Harley said.

It was not clear at press time whether the suspect had left the home carrying any stolen property.
