Forum on 710 Freeway set for Tuesday

Share

Opponents of plans to connect the Long Beach (710) Freeway with the Foothill (210) Freeway are calling for residents to pack a public meeting that Metro is hosting Tuesday at the La Cañada High School cafeteria.

Tuesday’s gathering is part of a series of meetings intended to collect public comment about the proposed 710 extension. Concerns voiced during the meeting will become part of the public record and must be addressed by Metro in its upcoming environmental impact report for the project, a 4.5-mile underground tunnel between Alhambra and Pasadena.

“Anybody who is concerned about the tunnel needs to voice those concerns. We don’t want Metro to think we’re complacent about this issue,” said Jan SooHoo, an organizer with the local No 710 Action Committee and administrator for the No 710 Freeway Tunnel Facebook page.

The meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. La Cañada High School is located at 4463 Oak Grove Drive.

For more information about the meetings, call (626) 408-2474 or visit Metro’s 710 page at www.metro.net/projects/sr-710-conversations.
