A man who was riding his horse in the Gould Mesa trail camp Saturday morning was airlifted to Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena after he and his horse fell 8 feet into a dry creek bed, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Debra Herman said.

The 50-year-old man, who had back injuries, was riding on a trail at about 10 a.m. when his horse stumbled, causing him to fall into the dry creek bed with the horse falling on top of him.

The man’s name and medical condition were not available Saturday afternoon, Herman said.
