A night out to help fight crime

La Cañadans young and old came out to the Vons on Foothill Boulevard at Oakwood Avenue to celebrate the 28th Annual National Night Out. Fire and police personnel used the event to build community relations and send a message of crime and drug prevention.

Kids enjoyed playing with a patrol car’s public address system while others checked out search and rescue gear or picked up safety pamphlets.

Capt. David Silversparre was among the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station representatives on hand with California Highway Patrol officers and L.A. County Fire Department firefighters to present the event. These same agencies put on a concurrent National Night Out event at Ralphs in La Crescenta.
