Area 1: 2900 block of Community Avenue: A teenager was arrested for allegedly stealing an iPhone at Crescenta Valley High School at 5:10 p.m. on Sept. 16. The teenager took the phone from a table inside the gymnasium, where the volleyball team was practicing. The team’s coach gave chase, and the suspect was stopped after a brief altercation, during which no one was hurt. The teenager was also arrested for alleged marijuana possession after being searched during his arrest.

2900-3000 block of Los Olivos Lane: Three rings, valued at $10,000 total, and a laptop valued at $2,000 were stolen from the top drawer of a dresser in the master bedroom of a home between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Sept. 15. The home appeared to have been entered through an unlocked laundry room window, where a screen had been removed and replaced incorrectly. During the same time period a laptop and an Omega wrist watch were stolen from another residence, which was entered through a smashed kitchen window.

Area 2

4500 block of Palm Drive: A mail theft occurred between 4 p.m. on Sept. 14 and Sept. 15. The homeowner saw the mail in her mailbox but did not retrieve it. When she returned to do so the next day, it was gone.

Area 3

500 block of Meadow Grove Street: A residence was burgled, with a safe being pried open and jewelry stolen from within, between 1:10 p.m. on Sept. 17 and 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 18. The home may have been entered though an open bedroom window on the second floor. The value of the stolen jewelry was not given.

300 block of Corona Drive: Mail was reported stolen, the second reported incident in the last two months, from a mailbox sometime between 4 p.m. on Aug. 29 and 4 p.m. on Sept. 14. The owner of the mailbox received confirmation from the postal service that a garage door opener she had ordered had been delivered on the 29th, but she never received it, along with other mail she had been expecting. The mailbox did not have a lock.

4400 block of Cornishon Avenue: A purse belonging to the principal of La Cañada Preparatory was stolen from her unlocked car between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., on Sept. 7. Inside the purse was $500 in cash and four pairs of women’s prescription sunglasses, valued at $2,000. School was not in session when the theft occurred. Another theft occurred at the school when a woman’s wallet was taken from her purse between 1 p.m. on Sept. 15 and 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 16. The purse was left in a desk drawer in the unlocked classroom overnight.

2600 block of Foothill Boulevard: A woman was arrested while allegedly attempting to shoplift $300 worth of make-up and beauty supplies from the Rite Aid on Foothill Boulevard at 12:30 p.m. on Sept. 14.
