Thieves target cars in LCF

A recent increase in burglaries of La Cañada Flintridge homes has stalled, but thefts from vehicles remain on the rise.

There were five thefts from vehicles in the city on Dec. 10 and another on Dec. 11, according to reports on file at the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Four thefts from vehicles occurred in La Cañada on Dec. 2 and Dec. 3 despite the arrest of three men connected to at least five earlier break-ins to cars.

The Dec. 11 theft occurred before 8 a.m. on the 800 block of Milmada Drive, with stolen property including two briefcases and cuff links valued at $1,000.

Vehicle burglaries on Dec. 10 occurred on the 4200 block of Beulah Drive, 4400 block of Cornishon Avenue, 4300 block of Hayman Avenue and two on the 1900 block of Tondolea Lane. A golf bag and clubs valued at $2,800, a laptop worth $1,000, sunglasses worth $170 and a nurse’s uniform valued at $100 were among stolen items.

The city’s most recent reported home burglary occurred between noon and 1 p.m. on Dec. 6 on the 600 block of Starlight Crest Drive. Stolen items included a $2,000 gold necklace and an iPad valued at $600.

There have been eight residential burglaries in La Cañada Flintridge since Thanksgiving, Sgt. Ray Harley said. At least four of those homes were broken into during power outages, according to reports.
