Ten Years Ago

It was announced that Kyle Bilowitz (Class of 1994), Sarah Dien (also ’94) and Charlie Petit (’95) would be inducted into the La Cañada High School Athletic Hall of Fame in January 2002. Bilowitz was honored for his efforts in soccer; Dien for cross-country, track and soccer; and Petit for basketball.


Twenty Years Ago

Junior forward-guard Melissa Lord set a new school single-game scoring record with a 40-point performance to lead the LCHS girls’ varsity basketball team to a 60-37 victory over Monrovia.

The first phase of placing power lines underground along a portion of Foothill Boulevard neared completion in January 1982. The project included a stretch of the thoroughfare between Angeles Crest Highway and Commonwealth Avenue.

The newly formed Flintridge League, which named the La Cañada Youth House as its organizational project, met in a Meadow Grove area home to elect its first officers. The 32-member group elected Mrs. Paul Hersey to serve as president.
