La Cañada students spot 20 orcas
A group of La Cañada Elementary students who ventured out in a boat Thursday morning were treated to a rare sight.
The young students, on a whale-watching trip at 10 a.m., spotted a pod of around 20 killer whales off Dana Point, according to Donna Kalez, general manager of Dana Wharf Sportfishing & Whale Watching.
It “was really awesome that they got to see these rare and amazing creatures,” said Kalez in an email.
