Two cars collide on Foothill Boulevard

Two cars collided shortly after 3 p.m. Monday on a rain-slickened Foothill Boulevard at Daleridge Road in La Canada, sending one of the drivers to a hospital.

After-school traffic around St. Francis High School, St. Bede Elementary School and La Cañada High School slowed to a crawl, as the two cars waited in the roadway for tow trucks to arrive, blocking the westbound lane of Foothill.

Deputy Will Agtual of the Crescenta Valley Sheriff’s Station said that one of the drivers was transported to Verdugo Hills Hospital after the crash, but that extent of their injuries could not be reported at this time.

The other driver, amiddle-aged man who declined to give his name, said that he had been driving west on Foothill in his Honda Civic when the other driver, behind the wheel of a Chevrolet sedan, attempted to turn from Daleridge onto Foothill, heading east. The driver of the Honda said he hit his brakes, but his car slid and collided with the turning sedan.
